FanSync was started by two brothers, both huge sports fans and Utah State University alums with backgrounds in engineering and research. We have great memories of our time as students in Logan, walking up Old Main Hill and seeing the Old Main Building’s tower. At night, the tower lit up with the Aggie A, a school symbol. We could see it from our apartments and all over town. When a USU team won, the white lights turned blue, which was a fun way to find out about victories.
We’re natural entrepreneurs, just like our grandfathers. One started a family grocery store, and the other filed a patent on harvesting equipment. We remember reading that patent application, and it inspired us both to think about writing our own patents someday. John came up with the idea to create a device that brings the tradition of lighting the Aggie A blue for victory to fans. When he shared his idea with me, James, my mind went to patents based on my experience writing them. After some quick research, we realized there was real potential.
That conversation led to FanSync and Sports IoT. Our goal is to use technology to make being a fan more engaging and interactive. We create connected sports memorabilia that lets fans connect with their teams on a whole new level. We’re all about mixing tech and sports passion to make every fan feel closer to their team.
